2009 PRESS RELEASE (pdf - May 30)
2007, the Festival's inaugural season, saw the entire cast of This Hour Has 22 Minutes,
Lorne Elliott, Irwin Barker, Erica Sigurdson, and Steve Patterson take the
City by storm - 5 sold out shows and rave reviews! 2008 offered five nights,
more variety, in bigger venues - with the Gala moving to Mile One!
This year, to reflect our exciting new Title-Partnership with Newfoundland Screech Rum, we introduce a new name: the Newfoundland Screech Comedy Festival. It's a perfect fit!
Comedy and Screech carry the same message in this Province - good times/
fun times. We look forward to growing and expanding together.
The organizers expect this year's Festival to be another rave success. It
will occupy five days jam-packed with top entertainment. From June 10-14,
it will feature the Trailer Park Boys, a two-day stand-up comedy workshop,
Open Mic Night and a special one-of-a kind Shaun Majumder/Mark Critch Show.
A new Nasty Night has been added, as has a show featuring the recording of
three episodes of CBC Radio's The Debaters. The sure-sellout Sunday GALA
will be hosted by our own Cathy Jones.
The Newfoundland Screech Comedy Fest is co-produced by Pete Soucy, Leo Furey and Terri Andrews. Advertising/Sponsorship, and all other inquiries can be forwarded to info@newscreechcomedyfest.com
