Wonderful Grand Band - the tremendously popular trad-rock group from the 1980s, was conceived in 1977 for The Root Cellar, a six-part series produced by CBC St. John’s. It was followed by years of artistic and critical acclaim for the ensemble, the magical mix of original music and comedy an enduring hit with audiences far and wide. Their own hit TV series has been recently released on DVD to overwhelming response, and the group has enjoyed raves from audiences on their Provincial Tour in 2009, and at the Newfoundland & Labrador Folk Festival in 2010.
